Business

In December 2012, one of Brian's goals was achieved! We bought a business. All the papers had been signed, the t's crossed and the i's dotted! So, in January 2013 it was officially ours.  The start of the new year, was the beginning of our Denture Business- Mountain View Denture Clinic. It was a BIG step for us. We are now tied down to our town and this job. Its been a good year. The business is doing really well. I'm so proud of Brian for all that he has accomplished and learnt. He has a head for business- he's really smart with banking and investing and dealing with lawyers. He pretty much tells me where to sign! He has also been EXTREMELY busy this year. We were used to him being home everyday by 5:15 before taking over the business...thats long gone. It was common this year for him to be working till all hours of the night. I admire him for his dedication and willingness to work for our family with zero complaint. I, however, did complain. He wasn't home some nights until midnight and back again in the morning at 6. It was pretty rough on us girls. It was about 6 months of that, then he tried really hard to ease off. Although he wasn't home as much as I'd like, it was way better. One of the reasons we did so much last year was because I never saw him! So he took a week off in May so we could go to Vegas together and we really took advantage of our weekends! I'm grateful to AMAZING parents who were/are so willing to watch my girls so I can be alone with Brian. Its been a life saver to get away from being a single mom at times to just be with my husband. These days, brian's goal is to have every weekend off. He may work late a couple days a week, but he tries hard to be home for dinner and go back if he needs to. So at least we are eating dinner as a family- which is HUGE to me. Its been a trying year in a lot of ways but we have been so blessed. What an amazing feeling it has been to be have a husband out of school and actually be making money!

I've also had a hand in the business. I have learnt how to take care of the books. Its been a LONG slow process, but I basically can handle the MVDC and the KL business (KL- our business named after Kennedy, Lexi that owns the denture clinic- confusing, I know.) I like being able to do this. It saves Brian a HUGE headache, saves us a ton of money by not paying the bookkeeper/accountant to do it and I really enjoy using my brain again! 2013 brought a LOT of change for us and change is good :)
