This is very hard for me to write. I have never posted this info online before today.
When my daughter, Lexi, was 3 weeks old, she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. It is an inherited disease that primarily effects the lungs as well as the pancreas. Basically, everyone has mucus in their lungs that helps their body fight infections and remove gunk. Lexi's mucus is stickier and thicker which makes it harder for the little cilia hairs to move it and get rid of that stuff. So, they get sick easier, it lasts longer and it effects their breathing. Because it also blocks the pancreas ducts, it makes it impossible for enzymes to get from the pancreas to the stomach, so she has no digestive enzymes. She takes medicine and we do physio with her everyday to help move the mucus. That's the disease in a nutshell.
In May, our family is participating in a family walk in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada. All donations go to CF and finding a cure. You can help us by sponsoring us with a donation. Nothing big is needed, a little goes a long way. Thank you for your support to our family and especially Lexi.
By the way, Lexi is VERY healthy. The doctors are thrilled with her and how she is doing. We have been blessed.

You know, my mom told me that Lexi had CF soon after she was born, which I was very surprised at since you hadn't mentioned anything on your blog. And then when I talked to Brian on the phone, I kindof wanted to ask about it, but we didn't have much time.
Anyway, I'm glad she is healthy and I wish you guys all the best for her in the future!
I am so sorry Jess, I had no idea. I am so glad to know that Lexi is doing so well. A true blessing!
I will for sure donate to it. xox
I would of never known. She looks so healthy and you never mentioned it. Thank you for sharing. The more word gets out..the more we all can help in some small way towards a cure. So thank you. And we are so pleased to see and hear how well Lexi is doing. That is fantastic news!
