play-dough

Last week, we had a dump of snow- like couldn't leave the house, school was closed, YW was cancelled kind of snow fall. The girls have been loving play-dough, so I made up a batch instead of continuing to use the crappy old stuff we had. I've never made play-dough before, but it turns out, its so much nicer than store-bought!

Here's the recipe:

1 cup flour
1 cup warm water
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. oil
1/4 cup salt
food coloring

Combine everything in order in a pan. Heat over med heat 5-10 mins until it forms a ball.
Knead on counter a few minutes- this is where I added the color so I could divide it to make 4 colors.
btw- you can buy neon food coloring now, so this is what made the colors way more fun.

the girls LOVED it!

Fun! A couple years back I attempted some home made dough but it was a total disaster. I feel inspired to try again ;)

I love home-made play dough ... way better than the bought stuff. Another idea is you use kool-aid for coloring instead of food coloring and the bonus is it smells. If you want the recipe, let me know. :)
