french memo board

Today I decided I wanted to make a french memo board for my scrapbook room. I googled it and came across a few. It was spur of the moment and I was super happy to see I had all the supplies!! woo! I bought this fabric years ago I think to make a bag out of. I had an old canvas that I was waiting to do something with from a Christmas project gone wrong! So I found some ribbon and although I had no push pins, I improvised. I love how it turned out!





In case you would like to make one, here are the easy steps. I think it took me 45 minutes start to finish while Kennedy watched Dora next to me (surprise surprise!)

1.Gather supplies


2. Iron fabric to get all the creases out

3. I put quilting batting underneath to make it look soft and squishy and not so "boardy". Put canvas on batting and trip to a 4" border all around. then staple it on the back pretty tight.


4. Repeat with fabric. Fold corners like a present with tight little triangles


5. Place ribbon over board and position to your liking. Space evenly. I started in the middle, worked to one corner and then the other corner before moving to the diagonal. (tip: if I did this again, I would make my ribbon a little further apart-but it all works)

6. Use pushpins, brads, buttons or hand stitch the criss crossed ribbons.

7. Put memos, notes, pictures, quotes and other cute do-dads inside the ribbons!

8. ta-da!!
