yah, IKEA!!

**Updated** A couple people have asked what I am going to use the small jars for- well what won't I?? I think they will be perfect for buttons, brads, or small ribbon. Plus, I was thinking I could put candy or chocolate in them, tie the top with a ribbon and cute tag and it would be perfect for a little gift for visiting teachers! simple and easy!
I also thought that I could put my spices in them because I am tired of mismatched different sized jars and containers in my cupboard, but I'm not so sure about that. I may want something smaller and with a sprinkle top. We'll see. BUt ya, thats what they will be used for!
Well, today was an adventure. I went to IKEA breakfast with 2 of my sister in laws- have you been? It's $1!! Anyway, Leanne hadn't been to IKEA for 2 years (she lives in Sask, but c'mon! Her hubby hates IKEA) Anyway, so we looked around while the kiddos played in the playplace and Kennedy was at home with Daddy. So we had great fun looking around at everything, oo-ing and awe-ing. When we were near the end, I was telling them about this jar that I had wanted so bad. I was telling them the story of when I was there last week. THere was one left but it had stuff in it and was sealed shut. I went and asked if they had more and they were discontinued. THe worker guy told me that 4 had been returned the previous night but he thought this lady was buying them. So I went up to her and asked politely if she needed all 4- I just wanted one! In a very snotty tone, she stiffly said "yes, I want them all". jeepers. just one??
So I was fuming all night because I wanted these jars and they were gone. THe one that was sealed shut was supposed to be going into the garbage cuz it was no good anymore.
So turns out Kaylani had one of those jars and gave it to Leanne and said she could get a new one. Nope- not no more!
Anyway, today, I asked someone else if they had any or if they were discontinued and yep- they were. But she said that I could have that one if I pried off the lid. So she very kindly did it for me with a screwdriver and got another worker to write up a sheet with a discount. They were just about to throw away the ribbon inside when I said- well, hey can I just have that? and they said sure!
So it is regularly a $8.99 jar with the ribbon 4 for $2.99. Well, I got it ALL, yep ALL-jar and ribbon, for $7.99! what a deal! thats a lot of ribbon too!
So Leanne was quite convinced she needed one too, so we checked the as-is section. Unfortunately they had none, but the girl there said to check the showrooms upstairs and get them from there!
Well, by this time, Kaylani had long gone with the kids and Leanne and I went on a mission! We checked EVERY SINGLE CUPBOARD, DRAWER AND PULL OUT SHELF IN EVERY SINGLE KITCHEN UPSTAIRS! im sure everyone thought we were crazy, but guess what?? WE FOUND 8!!! woo!! 1 was pretty messed with wax from candles inside and on another the plastic inside the seal of the lid was broken. So we took that lid and jar out and split up the rest. I got 3, Leanne got 3 and Kaylani wanted 2 (we were nice and called her to see if she wanted more besides the one Leanne was replacing). It was like Christmas when we would open a cupboard and find 2. So, that was done, and I found these little jars I liked a lot too in a display. I told Leanne I thought they were discontinued too and she was positive they weren't. Well, after asking a worker again, turns out they were discontinued too! Back to the kitchens we went, on a search for more jars. We rounded up 21! The funny thing was that 2 people asked us where we found the jars. And we said (very nicely) that they were discontinued and we had gotten them all. We took our massive cart of stuff (we had other stuff too, of course!) and took it to as-is to get priced. Each big jar was $5! and the little ones were $1 each. What a deal! It's almost weird you get a discount for being the last discontinued procuct. oh well, bonus for us!
So that is our loot today! I have 3 big jars, lots of ribbon and 11 little jars! I also got a gravy boat, 4 LARGE plastic drinking cups, a placemat for my table to put the plastic daisies i got in a vase. how exciting.
If you were thinking of getting some of these jars, sorry they are all gone! really!
That is the end. If you read all that, you should get a sticker or something!
Last night, was our Relief Society party, tonight is Kaylani's that I am going to with Leanne and tomorrow is GIRLS NIGHT OUT!! I'm so excited.
BTW, do you like the new picture on top?

I have to say that I went to Ikea for the first time ever the last time I was in Chicago, and I didn't really like it. I know--gasp! Everyone loves that store, but I think I would have liked it better if we hadn't gone on super-duper-busy-Saturday, with three kids, two of whom were 1-year-olds who wanted to get out of the cart and run around.
Anyway, cool that you found all those jars!
And yeah--I really like that picture on your blog header! awesome.

Where's my sticker? LOL! You are so cute and funny. I would have done the same thing. IT is SO worth all that effort to get the deals. Way to go! Love the jars. Yes, please tell us what you are going to do with them. And yes, I was just thinking that I liked you blog picture change at the top. This is with your new haircut, right?
