Left on a jet plane...

So Kennedy went on her first airplane! I was a bit nervous about how she would do on it, on our way to Ontario. She was great. Slept and played. Such a happy girl. The worse part of the whole trip was the drive from the airport in Thunder Bay to Terrace Bay which is a 2 1/2 hour drive. She had totally had it and there was no way she was going to sit in that carseat. Considering she had gotten up at 5:30am, only slept in my arms not in her bed, hadn't gotten to lay on the floor with toys and stretch, she did pretty dang good. I was very impressed with how she did on the plane. Hey Shari- Kennedy beat you to it!
So, here in Ontario, it is 2 hours ahead of Edmonton time so I am keeping Kennedy on Edmonton time, which is kinda weird for me. I feel like im in between the two time zones. Im eating dinner at 3:30 or 4pm my time, and sleeping until 11am Ontario time! It's really weird for me, but I really felt this was the best thing for her. When we switched the clocks back in October, it was so brutal on my little girl. She was confused and it took a long time to get back to her schedule, so this way, she will still be on it when she goes home. At least this way since she goes to bed at 7 at home, she goes to bed at 9 here and she can play more in the evening with her cousin Makenna (who loves her to bits) and all her aunts and uncles and great-grandparents. Its kinda handy.
So my mom, Kennedy and I are here for about 12 days. Not a whole planned, veggin, some partying for my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary and Tyson's 16th birthday party. It will be fun to be a little more relaxed and not have anything pressing to get done on the schedule. nice.

So, since the new year has started, I sometimes think about resolutions. honestly, im not a fan of them. I think people make them every year in January and by February, they are back to their same old ways. I HATE the "oh...in January the diet starts" goal. I mean, why can't you make the goal in May and do it then, or whenever you see the need. It just that I don't think people take it seriosly. Its just an excuse and everyone says..."whats your new years' resolution?" It is jsut a little silly to me. Goals need to be written down, or they are just a wish...and they need to be thought through, with an end in sight and it needs to be measurable, like.... I resolve to eat 4 servings of vegetables every day for 5 months" at least this way you can track your progress because it can be measured and you aren't saying "i will eat better this year". i mean , cmon' is that specific? how do you know if you reached your goal? Anyway, i feel pretty strongly about this. I did make one new goal, however. Brian and I are doing it together so that we could both benefit and it will be great for us an individuals and as a family to be better parents. We are both starting the Book of Mormon and making it a race. So it is sort of a goal...to read the book of mormon....measurable and attainable. and what's a goal without a prize? We set a prize for the winner, just to give us a little more push. This is something I have wanted to do for a long time, (read the BOM) so I took the "January start" to do it, but I still don't like resolutions...sorry...i just don't. Do you have any "resolutions"? do you follow through with them? How do you keep track of them? Write a comment about your resolutions, i would love to know what you try to do, and if you usually follow it up. Im not saying all people stop their goals in February, so let me know what you do. Post a comment and tell me, please! Anyone can post a comment, even if you don't have a blogger account. You don't need to create one, just type your comment and name in the box and then click the "annoymous" button. I would love to hear from you!
Ciao! ;)

I'm with you Jessica. I hate new year's resolutions to. I tend to make goals through out the year, but that doesn't mean I'm any better at sticking to them. I tend to make the same goal every couple of months. This way, at least for half of the year I'm doing what I said I was going to!!

Love your blog Jess. You are right, writing it down is so much better. I also like to put it where it can be seen so that keeps me focused too.
Have fun in Ontario ( I sure am)

I called you a couple of times, not knowing you were away! haha. I like the whole resolution thing- whynot start fresh at a new year, try to be better- not that you can't do it anytime- but as good a time as any! not that I have been doing anything differently this year! haha.
