Well 2011 is done, and along with it, is my 2011 project life. 365 photos. I am so happy I did it. I have loved looking back on those simple pictures that tell our story. I've gotten them all printed....did you know this is what 365 pictures printed looks like? And I'm so excited to get them into an album. My WONDERFUL mama decided to get me the project life album as a gift, so its in the mail and I am so excited!! I've been looking through all the photos on the blog and it makes me a little teary but happy too. I can't believe how much Kennedy has grown, and obviously Lexi as she's not a newborn anymore!! What a fun year its been.

Aprons

A few months ago, my mom got a new sewing machine and gave me her old one. So, I got it in my head that I wanted to use it, but how? So, I decided to make aprons for Christmas presents. Now, its been YEARS since I've sewn, so I don't know why I did this, but I had faith in myself and lots of motivation. So, I got to work.

In Brian's family, we rotate names and we had Kaylani and Perry, so I wanted to make Kaylani a fun, flirty apron. I really wanted fun ruffles and lots of bold color- all of which scream Kaylani to me. So her's is this black and hot pink with so many polka dots (who doesn't love polka dots?!?)

This charcoal and purple one is for Brian's mom. I really wanted to do something personal for her, and what better way to do that, then make something with your own hands. So she got a fun flirty apron too, but I think the colors suit her so well. More polka dots again (love them!) and a my favourite fabric of the whole bunch is that charcoal with soft white swirls and butterflies. Really feminine and sweet. Maybe I'm wrong on both aprons, but they are too kind to tell me :)

I was really happy with how they turned out. There were times I wanted to pull out my hair. Especially with those ruffles, which are not as easy as I imagined them to be. They took me a LONG time (mostly cause I didn't really know what I was doing), but I really like the aprons. AND, since I'm in YW, I used these as my Personal Project Value Project! NICE! double whammy.

Now I think I need to make myself one!

tasty and healthy....REALLY!

So, Brian and I started a new workout and eating plan (more on that later) and so for supper today, I made a little something different but easy and it turned out SOOOO GOOD! Brian and I both loved it and it will now always be a staple even when we aren't on a "diet".

So, its rather basic, so don't laugh that I'm sharing this.

Dice up some chicken. Mine was only slightly defrosted. Put in large skillet with water. Let it cook as the water dissolves, but don't let it go completely away. When the chicken is close to done, add thinly sliced red, yellow and/or orange peppers (I never buy green- yuck!), diced mushrooms,shrimp and your fav spices. Make sure there is still water in the pan and cover to steam the veggies. When everything is all tender and cooked, its done! Put some on a multigrain tortilla with a bit of grated cheese, fat free sour cream and here's the really important part.....a really good spicy sauce. We used a sweet red chili sauce.

I know my brother in law loves this sauce as does Brian and it would probably work. It just needs to add some kick and flavour.

There you go, serve with some more veggies or a salad and you have yourself a balanced, nutritious and DELICIOUS dinner! Enjoy!

Festival of Lights

Last night we had a great time going to the Festival of Lights in Airdrie. If you are around that area, you should definitely try to go there, its very well done. There are crafts for kids inside a heated tent, and a train ride, skating, hot chocolate and hot food concession. Its free admission too!

We had a fun time taking the girls skating today. Kennedy got the hang of it with someone always behind her of course. She was running like crazy on that rink. Not so much skating....but she had fun anyway!

One of my favourite things about December is Advent Calendars. There are just so many cute ones! Every year I see a new one I want to make! But a few years ago, I made this little drawer one that I really like. Everyday, as soon as Kennedy wakes up she asks to open the drawer and inside are slips of paper of activities to do. Examples: do a Christmas craft, go look at Christmas lights at night, watch a Christmas movie, take cookies to someone etc. I am loving that Kennedy is at a good age to enjoy and understand these things.

The next one was a gift from Brian's brother/wife and family. (Thanks Jason & Joanne!)
Everyday there is a new Christmas book to open. Well, this has been a huge hit, as both of the girls LOVE books. And its so exciting to open a present everyday!

There's been fun books, more serious books, long and short. But everyday has been so fun to read a new one together. This will MOST DEFINITELY become a yearly tradition in our house.

They also have the typical chocolate advent, but since I have to keep it up high or Lexi will tear it open and eat it all, I always forget about it. I guess it works out ok, because when I do remember its like 3 days to open at once, so we all get some! hee hee, maybe thats my real plan :)

Nativity

Last night, we took our girls to the live Nativity at our church. They LOVED it! Kennedy was either telling us what was happening or asking us what was happening. And Lexi was seriously trying to talk to the donkey! It was too cute. But she sat on my lap totally still, mesmerized by it all. It was great weather, and after being sick and stuck inside for 4 days, I think they both liked the fresh air. Inside, we looked at all the nativities that were set out (there were over 600!) and had cookies for refreshments.

(We also had to tell her that baby Jesus was just pretend, not the real baby Jesus. She kept asking us when he was going to wake up so she could see him)

Tonight, Brian and I are playing Mary and Joseph and Kennedy thinks that is pretty cool.

A super great FHE, because seeing something like this, really helps a child see what its all about. I'm a visual person, so I'm just assuming my kids are too:) I love seeing Christmas through children's eyes.

Christmas tree

For FHE tonight, we decorated the Christmas Tree! In the past, I've always done it myself. I didn't have kids old enough to help and Brian didn't want to do it with me. But this year, we did it together, and just let me say, I WILL NEVER do it on my own AGAIN!!! First of all, it was faster! Brian sat on the chair putting those grappy clips on all the balls. Kennedy and I took them from him and put them on the tree. Secondly, its WAY more fun and not boring. I think last year it took me hours and this time it was just over an hour and Kennedy LOVED it!! Brian might not admit it, but he liked helping, especially watching the kids get all excited. Lexi just walked around trying to grab an ornament every now and then, but having fun with the Baby Jesus magnet that she kept in her mouth, and the timer plug in for the tree.

Overall- SUPER family activity.

She talked for a couple weeks about putting the star on the tree! She was so excited!!

So, Thursday I got to celebrate my 25th birthday! What a fun day it was! It began with breakfast waiting for me all ready when I got home from the gym, it was so yummy and some of my favs- eggs, multigrain toast, turkey bacon and pinapple/mango juice.

During the day, I played with the girls, got a card from her school, got wished a Happy Birthday from Kennedy a few times (and told I'm the best mother :), relaxed and read my book while Lexi napped and ate chocolate. Then we went to the Library and hung out and saw a friend of mine so we chatted for a while. Brian got off work a bit early and banned me to the computer room while him and the girls did something. When I came out, my cake was waiting for me and a present!

I was really happy with my cake!! Brian has never made me a cake before and Kennedy helped him put all the fruit on. It was an angel food cake with cool whip as icing. Kennedy wanted me to have a rainbow cake and Brian did not disappoint her (or me!) It was so tasty!! Angel food cake is my top fav!

Then, Brian surprised me with these awesome boots that I saw at the mall a few weeks ago. (Super awesome guy!) He took me to dinner while my friend babysat for us and then we cake back and ate more cake:)

It was a SUPER awesome day.

Thanks for the sweet messages and phone calls. I felt loved all day!

Today, my sister, sis in law and mom came down so we could go to Calgary. We had a spa day planned but it got cancelled so we shopped at Cross Iron Mills and it was double exciting because I got birthday money!! Am I spoiled or what?? Those girls must love me.

I think 25 is going to be a good year, after a day like that, how could it not be??

A few weeks ago, we went on a date and since we missed our movie, we shopped in Red Deer. We found coats that we loved- we actually picked out each other's. We had fun shopping, eating out and talking and just being together without kids! I love this guy!!

We didn't buy the coats, afterall, Christmas is coming, and it was just fun to play.

Lexi is a goof. She loves to make faces (and scowls), but she is happy and plays so well with Kennedy. She loves this chair so stinkin much and she loves to read her little mini books. She is so funny.

Kennedy's Interview

I saw on a friend's blog that she "interviewed" her 4 year old. I thought it was a great idea and tried it.

Favourite cereal: Cheerios (mulitgrain)

Chocolate Chip Cookies

so soft and yummy!!

3/4 c. unsalted butter, softened

3/4 c. brown sugar

1/4 c. granulated sugar

1 egg

2 tsp. vanilla extract

2 c. all purpose flour

2 tsp. cornstarch

1 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

1 c. bittersweet chocolate chips

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream together butter and sugars until fluffy and light in color (Should take a few minutes, don't rush this step). Add egg and vanilla and blend in.

3. Mix in flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt (Blend on lowest speed till it comes together). Stir in chocolate chunks.(with a wooden spoon)

4. Using a standard-sized cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dough onto a prepared baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until barely golden brown around the edges. (The tops will not brown, but do NOT cook longer than ten minutes.)

5. Let cool, on the sheet, on a wire rack for five minutes. Remove from baking sheet and let cool completely. Try not to eat them all.

I thought they were delicious....I hope you do too!

On thanksgiving Monday, after Turkey we had a little party for Lexi, but my camera died and I was sick so I have little pictures of it. So on her actual birthday, we had a our little family party. These are the cupcakes I was quite proud of. My amazingly talented sister in law made the flowers, I just had to put them on a stick. I thought they turned out so cute- but with her already giving me the idea, I knew it would.

We welcomed this beautiful little girl into our family. Lexi Brianne changed our family for the better. She is such a sweet little girl and we are grateful that Heavenly Father sent her to us.

red lobster recipe

So, last night, I felt like having those delicious Red Lobster Biscuits. We love going to Red Lobster, and I especially love eating the biscuits there. So I googled a recipe and found one to try. Brian LOVED them. LOVE. I think he ate 5. He said they are better than Red Lobster's. I called my sister to give her the recipe and I was saying they are just as good as Red Lobster's and Brian says again "no, they are better". They were ridiculously easy too. So, I thought I would share the recipe. I would add a picture, but they were gobbled up quick, even Miss Kennedy ate 2 (as did I) :)

RED LOBSTER CHEDDAR BAY BISCUITS

2 cups Bisquick biscuit mix
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cheddar cheese (shredded)
1/4 cup butter (melted)
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. dried parsley

Preheat oven to 450. Mix biscuit mix, milk and cheddar, beat vigorously for 30 sec. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.

Mix melted butter, garlic powder and dried parsley; brush generously over warm biscuits before removing from cookie sheet. Serve warm. Makes 10-12 biscuits.

We had 2 leftover and Brian would not let me have them for lunch today, he had to take them in his lunch.
These will be made again and again in our home for sure!

Family Fun Day

Here in our home town, we have a bowling alley and last week (2 weeks ago?? I don't know), we took the girls to it. We had such a blast. It was 5 pin so Kennedy was able to hold the ball on her own. She actually did pretty good! Some balls were SLOW, but they made it to the pins eventually, and others were spot on. We had a good day.

If anyone knows Brian and I at all, its that we have competitions for EVERYTHING. So, of course, we had a prize up for grabs. The loser had to do dinner dishes. And I WON.

And the bumpers were on, so that would be why Kennedy's score is so high. That, or she is just a natural born bowler :)

In the first couple weeks of September, we took advantage of the hot weather and went to the lake. It was great weather! perfect for tanning and going in the water, but not so hot that you were just sweating while you sat on the chair. We met my family there and had such a blast.

Nothing beats icecream and a picnic lunch at the lake!

A good snooze is always nice too. Ethan took a nap in the tube

And sometimes, you just gotta sit and relax and eat your fruit snacks :)

Oh, how I will miss summer!!!!

Lexi Loo

Where does the time go? I think everyone would agree with me here, that things are just busy! Whether you work in a career capacity, have kids, go to school or a combination of the above, things are just plain busy. Everyone keeps telling me I need to blog, but its been hard to find the time lately!! I'll do better, really I will!

So, a week and a half ago, Lexi was officially 11 months old!!! She is almost a year old! Its so crazy. I managed to get her to sit still long enough to snap a few photos. (My trick- put her on the rocking chair where she can't get down by herself and very little space to crawl- especially to me where she can get the camera!) We just love our crazy Lexi Loo!!

At 11 months she is:

eating like a teenager (all the time, and lots!)
weighs just under 21 pounds
in the 90th percentile for her height
wears 12-18month size clothes
sleeps 13-14 hours at night
has one long nap in the afternoon
depending on the day, has a small morning nap too
loves books
loves the fridge farm animal toys
stands herself at everything and loves to walk with your hands
LOVES her blankie and thumb
likes to play hide and seek with Kennedy
loves to drink from a straw
suffering from a terrible ear ache
nearly able to go to a forward facing carseat (yah!)
the loudest screamer ever! ugh. (its awful)

Kennedy's Preschool

Last week, Kennedy had her first day of preschool! She was so ready and so excited to start. She talked about it so much. Before we left, I asked her if she wanted me to stay for a bit for to just leave her. She wanted me to stay for a few minutes. She hung her backpack, took off her shoes and went to play. She was happy, but didn't want me to go just yet. So I hung around watching her and then she gave me a kiss and waved goodbye on the front step to me. I didn't think I would be sad at all because its just 3 days a week for a few hours, but as I was walking away, I got sad! I was leaving my baby behind and driving away. But, I took Lexi to Walmart for groceries, then home for naptime and I must say, the quiet was quite nice!! After cleaning up a bit, I read my book on the couch and even fell asleep for a few minutes! I enjoyed the peace then was happy to go get her again! They were playing outside in the front where there is a park fenced in. She had a great time!! I just love this girl!! What a cutie!!

family reunion

In July, we had our annual Livingstone Family Reunion. We were in Kananaskis for the weekend and the weather was beautiful!! It was so hot. Kennedy had the time of her life with a massive field to run in with all her cousins. Lexi was a tad miserable. That week I had stopped nursing in the daytime and would only do it at bedtime, plus we've discovered Lexi does not enjoy the heat. If she is at a pool or lake, its fine, but there was no water nearby. I think it was a combination of a bunch of things, but she was not herself. We had a good time anyway and loved being with our family!! Can't wait for next year!

WHOA!! I am so behind! The summer has flown by. We've been very busy and when we aren't busy, we are enjoying summer! I am going to attempt to catch up on the blog!

Way back in July, Kennedy turned 4!! I can't believe how grown up this girl has become. She is so sweet, smart, kind and wonderful! We just love her!!

We had a quiet, but really fun day with our little family. We went swimming, out for dinner to Olive Garden (Kennedy picked the "grape" restaurant) and had presents and cake. I think she felt pretty spoiled and loved. We just love our crazy Kennedy!!

We were playing telephone today, and I called her and this was the conversation (totally random)

Me: Hello, is this Kennedy?
Kennedy: no, its Nana
Oh, hi Nana, how are you?
I got squished?
Huh? by what?
A shark.

Apparently, you've been squished by a shark, Mom. lol. I could not stop laughing!!

The other day I was rubbing Kennedy's back and Lexi crawled over and cried and got all jealous. Kennedy replied (mmm, maybe yelled) "She loves you too, Lexi!". I guess Kennedy needed some mama time!

there was another one yesterday, but I can't remember. I hate how when your kids say something funny, you're like, I'll totally remember that and a few hours later, you totally can't. so annoying! After the phone one, I ran upstairs and wrote it down.

Today, Kennedy turned 4, but since Brian is out of town, we are telling her its tomorrow. I can't believe she is 4. Where the heck does time go, and why does it get stolen so quickly??

canada day

Since my girls are playing so well right now, I thought I'd take advantage.

Our Canada Day this year was a bit out of the ordinary. Usually, we are in Edmonton with our families and we have lots going on. We start in FT. Sask with Brian's family at the parade. Then we have a BBQ with them and play. Then we come into Edm to my family BBQ later in the afternoon. Then we go to the fireworks. I LOVE canada day, and I LOVE fireworks. like, seriously, I love Canada Day almost like I love Christmas. This year, we played with Mark and Devonee and kids in Calgary. We hit the lake, then the ladies went shopping, and then we took most of the kids to the fireworks while one adult stayed home with the babies. When we went to the park for fireworks, we didn't exactly know where to go and we asked a bunch of people. We thought we were in a good spot- where we could see them well, but then get to our car and out of the traffic fast. When we could hear them and not see them, we knew we were in the wrong spot. We tried to run and see them, but they were on the other side of downtown. With the river in the way, our best view was between a few sky rise buildings. Our day was different, but just as fun. Its all about hanging with family! Thanks for visiting us, guys!

Here's a quick, simple and tasty treat that you could do with your kids.

Take flour tortillas, brush lightly with melted butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Cut into wedges with pizza cutter, bake @ 350 for 10-12 minutes. To make even tastier, dip in cool whip.

There are some advantages to being poor students-you get free passes to stuff! We have City of Calgary Rec passes that get us dirt cheap into things, but they came with zoo passes so we can go twice/year for free! sweetness! So, today, we packed up sandwiches, drinks and fruit and headed to the zoo! Kennedy said her fav were the giraffes, Brian liked the hippos and I thought the camels were fun. Next year, they are getting penguins- I can't wait for that!!

They also have a butterfly room with tons of butterflies just flying around. I got one to crawl on my finger and tried to give it to Kennedy, but she was a bit jumpy and scared. She LOVES butterflies and talked for an entire spring about catching one with her net, but the thought of actually touching was not quite the same!

We had a super fantastic day. The weather was perfect. We only got rained on for about 5 minutes while we ate our lunch under umbrellas we brought. Aren't we prepared??

We all came home completely exhausted from walking for 3 hours straight, but we had fun. We love having Daddy home with us in the summer! this has never happened before. Every summer since we've been married he has worked for a landscaping company that he would work 10-12 hour days, so this is incredibly rare to have Brian with us in the summer! Yesterday we went to the lake and spent all afternoon swimming, playing aerobie, rafting and lounging. We're never going to want him to go back to work!

Yesterday, we went to Calaway for the afternoon. It was GORGEOUS out. Just the perfect sunny sky and temperature. I packed some fruit and muffins for a picnic snack. Kennedy loved the rides, Lexi was rather indifferent hehe. She actually did really love the carousel. she bopped up and down and squealed. It was a nice day.

It is super fantastic how close it is to us. We live about 13 minutes from it! awesome. And we have season passes, so we can just go for a few hours and not feel like we have to stay all day long. It nicely fills an afternoon.

Just 1.5 days left till Daddy comes home!! hooray!!!

Well, when I pulled a dress out of Kennedy's baby clothes bin, I saw this pink dress that she wore for the first time at my sister's wedding shower. I remember it so clearly. My mom and I planned a Hawaiian themed shower. So, today, Lexi wore that dress to church. I had to snap a few pictures of her in the dress. Also, another reason for doing this was people often ask me if Lexi looked like Kennedy. To me, they look completely different (but I'm their mother) but I do see some similarities. So, when Kennedy wore the dress, it was also in June (June 14 to be exact) which would make her one month before her first birthday. There is no way this dress will be long enough for Lexi then. She is 8 1/2 months and it barely covered her butt. Silly long baby. She hasn't been able to wear quite a few of Kennedy's old dresses because of that. But anyway....the pictures.

cause I just feel like rambling!

- Yesterday I rollerbladed with the kids in the double stroller. Super fun, but not when you go down big hills and the brakes don't work. There were not even lawns to bail on.

-Today I biked over 7km with the bike trailer (the same double stroller) and hit the park. It was gorgeous outside.

-You know those moments when your kids think you're the best parent in the entire world? Yesterday I felt like one. it was a good day. I like those moments.

-I'm trying to stay super busy and have fun so I don't go crazy missing Brian

-Tonight I cleaned the garage and took out all the garbage. I feel great now.

-So, I re-realized (is that a word?) that I enjoy cleaning and organizing. I guess I just don't like cleaning the same things over and over again when my husband doesn't put things away! (love you, hunny)

-Lexi crawled tonight! Cutest thing ever.

Well.....where to even begin?

I am home from our 7 week time in Edmonton. Brian is not here yet, because he still has 2 exams next week. But, I am home because he needed to focus on studying, I guess I'm a distraction?? heehee.

So....what have we been up to? lots of playdates, family fun, swimming, enjoying the sun when it decides to shine, and chilling at Nana & Papa's house. Here's some updates on us...

Kennedy.
-she is FULL of questions!! I am tired of the word "why". it is used constantly.

-Freaking adores Lexi. I am amazed at the love she shows her baby sister. Always getting her snacks, toys, or making her laugh like no one else can! Lexi LOVES Kennedy.

-played soccer every week and really enjoyed it. I can't believe how far she has come in 6 weeks! They had a soccer tournament and they all got a medal and she is pretty proud of her "medal necklace"

-a very sweet little girl

Lexi.

-love to EAT. and eat she does. We haven't found anything she doesn't like yet. She eats so stinkin much! and loves water. Her cup is her best friend.

-she is 8 months already!

-trying so so hard to crawl! She'll be all around the house in a week or two at most.

-a super happy girl. Every time I go out, either to church, grocery shopping or whatever, I have been asked at least once, "Is she always this happy?" She's just a super content, happy baby. Unless you take away a toy or paper that she was chewing and isn't supposed to be- then she is ANGRY!

-we just love to make her laugh!

-we took a ride on the Street car that goes over the high level bridge. Kennedy LOVED it.

-Brian and I have had a few dates (YAH!) because Nana is so great and babysits the girls

-Father's Day was a hit with M&M bowties, delicious white skor trifle, and cool apron gift and nice cards and pictures.

We had a great time in Edmonton with all our family and friends! They are wonderful and we loved spending time with them. My parents are AMAZING (to say the least) for letting us invade their home. We owe them huge!!! they were just great. We were sad to go, but I can honestly say, I'm happy to be home. I missed my bed and my routine. I'm sure in about a day (or two ), I'll wish I were going back! Thanks so so much Mom and Dad. we really truly love you. We appreciated all you did for us.

This past week, my Mom, my sister and my kids and myself drove down to Utah for a little holiday. We stayed with my aunt and uncle and we had a great time. We shopped, ate lots, visited and we walked around Temple Square. It was a beautiful day, the flowers were Beautiful and we had a good time. The whole trip was nice.

Sorry I've been away from the blog for so long! I've been in Edmonton or elsewhere for the entire month of May. Last night was the first time I slept in my own bed since April! I was thinking of deleting the blog, but I do still like it. So we'll see.....

Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter with your family and friends! We had a great weekend! We spent the holiday at Brian's sister's house with her little family and we also got to spend time with 2 of his brothers (and fams). It was a great time. The weather was fantastic so the kids played outside all day long. They decorated eggs (I was in town, so I don't have pictures of that. sad.) They had a big easter hunt from the Easter bunny, we played games, went for runs, stayed up so LATE, baked, cooked, went for walks, watched movies and hung out. Heres our weekend in pictures....

Lexi turned 6 months yesterday and I forgot to do her little photoshoot. So I did it today and had such fun. The sun was shining which made for some great light and Kennedy even wanted in!! Brian was working late tonight, so the girls and I had a small FHE. We sang a few primary songs and then talked a bit about Easter and what it means. That didn't go so well, Kennedy didn't understand. Then we watched a few videos on YouTube. These 2 I liked best. Then I made Robin's nests and Kennedy was beyond thrilled!

Brian laughed pretty good and then told me to write it down and scrapbook it. Gotta love when a husband appreciates scrapbooks too!

By the way, to make the nests, mix equal parts coconut and melted chocolate chips. The recipe said to use 1 cup of each to make 12 nests. I used 1/4c. of each because I didn't want 12. Dollop on wax paper, make a hole with your finger and put in the fridge until hard. Top with jelly beans or mini eggs. Quick, cute, easy.

Winter Garden by Kristen Hannah. Just finished this book. Really liked it. A different novel than I normally read. About a woman's story of her life in Russia during the war.

Read Nicholas Sparks's book The Choice a while back. LOVED IT! One of my favourites from this author. Seriously, if you like a good love story, read this one.

I read this like 2 years ago, but I really really liked it. Brian is always trying to get me to read Jeffrey Archer, and this is the first one I read. I was hooked to this book. I'm going to read it again soon. Or another of his.

Nora Roberts- Angels Fall. This one was ok. I liked it, not LOVE, but enjoyed it pretty good.

High Noon, again by Nora Roberts. Warning, this book has sex and language. but I loved it. I read it twice. Super good.

Finished A Time To Kill by John Grisham a few weeks ago and really really liked it. I enjoy John Grisham quite a bit. Just another warning, don't read this if you are sensitive about beatings and stuff. Its set in the South- and has to do with whites and blacks. Its about a trial and what goes on around that time of a white vs a black. I recommend it if you like that kinda thing, but not if you are sensitive about such issues.

And right now, I'm reading

I'm pretty excited. Its about a lady that gives up her baby girl in a culture that favors boys. A then an American family adopts that baby. Just started it.

When my little family moved to Calgary in August, we made a goal to do better at having consistent family home evening. In Edmonton, we had it sporadically, but with me working night shifts most days of the week, it was hard to fit in. We did really good for a while here, then after Lexi was born, understandably, it got put on the back burner once again. Other things always seem to creep in and we let it get in the way of our Monday nights.

This past week, we made a goal to get back into it on a regular basis. Kennedy is one of those kids that suck up information. Maybe its just the age, I don't know, but she can tell you the lesson we had in like September about our bodies (that Jesus made her body). So, we needed to keep teaching her these important lessons.

ANYWAY..... I am in no way bragging about what we do. I just thought putting these ideas out there can give you your own inspiration for your family.

I wanted to focus on prayer. We are really bad at having daily family prayer. So thats what we talked about today.

I made these, and we talked about what we should say in prayers.

then, I made these "flowers" that Kennedy can look at while she is praying and know what she can say.

So, we've got family, our bodies, sunshine, and our home. Next is food, and the bottom is Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. These are things we are thankful for. And we can then ask for blessings.

Then Brian told her a story from the Friend about prayer and we helped Kennedy say a meaningful prayer. Finished off with a song and a big family hug (thanks mom!) and then had a treat. Which, by the way were NOT yummy. I'm just saying...

So thats what we did tonight. What ideas do you have for small kids and FHE?

what a stinkin cutie. WE all just adore her. Kennedy LOVES her to pieces. She sings to her, reads to her, watches movies with her, tickles her, and will do anything silly to make her smile. She is such a sweet girl.

And then, I have another doll. She is equally as sweet and lovable and cute. She is getting SOOOOO smart and talks incredibly well. We get a kick out of her because she gets so genuinely happy over little things. Its so cute!

Spring Walk

its been very nice here lately. like sweater weather. Some wind, which is annoying, but for March, I'll take it. I also love the fact that Edmonton is covered in snow and we have next to none. I'll admit it, it makes me a little happy that I don't live there now!!

Yesterday was +8, so we had to go for a walk!! We had gone about ten minutes maybe and Daddy was on his way home from work and joined us. We are very lucky in where we live. We live about a 4 minute walk from the river. It has gorgeous, clear paths that we use quite often. I even went biking on them last night.

anyway, so we had a nice enjoyable walk in the Spring weather. And now, this weekend, there is a snowfall warning in effect. We are supposed to get quite a bit. yuck. I was kinda hoping it was gone for good.

I love nice weather walks. I love taking the girls out and getting fresh air. ahhhh.....SPRING!

Every once in a while you hear a great story about random acts of kindness, or experience one for yourself that make you realize there are nice people in the world still. Well, this is just such a story.

so, on Friday night, a pizza man came to my house. We didn't order a pizza and after checking the receipt that he had the right address but the previous owners on the slip we were both stumped as to what to do. I jokingly said I would take the pizzas but I didn't want to pay for them. He surprised me by saying he had no problem with that and he would check with the store. So he went to his car and talked on his cell for a few minutes. After that he drove away, so I assumed he was told the right address or that he was not allowed to do such a thing. Anyway, so today, my doorbell rings again and its the same pizza man. He is holding a pizza and says to me that he knows I didn't order a pizza but he felt terrible that he couldn't leave the last one, especially after seeing my 3 year olds face when she saw pizza. She looked so sad when he walked away that he just felt awful. So we they had another mix up and he wanted to bring it to us. Wow! Talk about sweet!! He said to just think of it as a random act of kindness and it made his day to put a smile back on the face of my little girl. So Kennedy thanked him and then we went and ate some pizza!!

So, I had a dilly bar the other day and feeling rather guilty for not sharing with Lexi, I gave her a taste. Well....as it turns out, Lexi LOVED it. (I know girls like chocolate and icecream, but really....) She screamed when I took it away to have my own lick. That'll teach me for sharing my chocolaty icecream goodness.

So today, I wanted one again, and I was rocking Lexi in the chair. So, I had to share again. Although she didn't scream, she did let it be known she wanted more. Now, a normal baby would pull back after a while when their mouth got too cold. Not this girl. She couldn't get enough. It was quite funny. I managed to get a few pictures, which was tricky, trying to hold the dilly bar, and her, and the camera, and keep her hands out of it.

Funny girl. Tomorrow she is 5 months. FIVE. how does time go so quick when you have a newborn, but 5 months of pregnancy is like an eternity.

This is a bit of Lexi as of late...

she tries and tries to get the stars and sheep hanging from the swing. I actually had to get it down for her because she was getting so sad she couldn't pull them down. It didn't please her to have just one though.

Look at that tiny hand. So cute, I could eat her.

She's in the stage right now that I can't leave the room with her left behind. She'd rather I hold her, but she's ok, as long as she can see me. Its still at the point where its cute, and not annoying, so it'd be great if it ended before it got to that point.

tonight, we were all playing on my bed and we kept telling Kennedy to watch out for Lexi who was laying on the bed. Kennedy then backed up quickly to jump into Brian's arms and stepped on Lexi's face. I honestly think Kennedy felt just as bad about it as Lexi did. She got a time-out, even though it was an accident, and when we went to talk to her, she was quite upset she hurt Lexi.

my girls this morning. Kennedy LOVES her baby sister. She's always sharing her toys. I hope it lasts to when Lexi is bigger!

I went running on Monday, not very long or far, but I FEEL it today! That is a totally different workout than Insanity (which I finished by the way!) Brian and I made a new workout routine. 3 days stength 3 days cardio. Its a switch up each strengh day as to what muscles are worked, and cardio will be either running or insanity. I'm looking forward to the change (and the fact that today is chest/back so I can rest my legs!)

Yesterday I took the girls swimming. Kennedy is getting so brave in the water. She is loving her swimming lessons and she has greatly improved in the 2 months she's been in the class. I am torn as to when to put her in the next class because we go to Edmonton for 2 months soon, so she'll won't finish in time. I'm trying to use a 50% off coupon at the YMCA for her to do them in Edm. The Y there won't accept our Calgary passes for registered programs. Dumb.

Today is cleaning day!! I have lots to do!

I have 11 pounds left to go till I am at my pre-pregnancy weight. Another 5 is what I'm aiming for. If I keep doing well, I may make my goal of having it all gone by April 1st. I'm hoping!!

This is a personal blog post, so be kind. I don't really know why I'm writing it, maybe to get my thoughts organized, maybe because others may think about this and it may help. In any case, I wanted to just write my thoughts.

So, I've always wondered about happiness. What make a person happy? Is it money? Are you born happy? Is it a career or kids? A big family? Travelling? Being comfortable with yourself?

A couple years ago, I was struggling with my happiness. I think it was a combination of baby blues, being bored, having such a new lifestyle of being home with a child instead of working and it was about the time that I would have graduated from University, had I not quit. It was a hard time and I really didn't know what made me happy. Then one day, I had lunch with a few of my old friends from high school. In the past, sometimes I would meet with them and feel jealous they were free to do what they wanted. They were travelling the world, going to school, making money and being young and free. It kinda made me sad I was stuck at home with a child, even though I loved Kennedy, I wanted to go back to school. I felt so JUDGED by the world. That I wasn't enough, because I had no degree. Only one child that I stayed home with. I actually had someone tell me "it was kind of lazy".

Then at this particular lunch with these friends, I realized I was HAPPY. That's when I discovered that happiness is a choice. It was like the biggest "a-ha" moment. Its a choice to be happy with where you are in life, where you live, and all the life circumstances you have. No one has it perfect and I think we are prone to always thinking that the grass is greener on the other side. I have friends who are single who LONG to be married with kids, and I have married friends who have thought they made a mistake and some have left their husbands and kids. I'm not judging anyone, because I don't know whats in their heads or what it is they want. But, for ME, I realized I had to be happy with what I was. Who I am. A poor student's wife, with 2 jobs to try to support the family, then one child, and a wife, daughter and sister that I could be proud of. I wanted to be the best ME. Simple as that.

Lately, I've been thinking about it again. Ever since realizing that day, that I was happy with who I was, I've been even happier. I like being a mom. I like being a wife and I love discovering my new talents and hobbies. I have friends I love that make me happy. I have the best family and "in-law" family I could possibly ask for. My sisters/sisterinlaws are some of my very best friends that I love to hang out with because we support each other and we LAUGH like crazy. I have parents that love me like nothing else. I see people who just don't look happy, and I understand because I honestly used to be there. Of course, I still want things. Material things. Non-material things (like living next to some of my close friends and Kennedy getting some friends that live close), but overall, where I am is good.

I wonder where my life will be in 5 years. What I do know is I have the best 2 girls I could ever hope for and an amazing husband that loves me like crazy. My situation may not be ideal in a lot of areas, but I'd choose my life anyday. There's this parable thats like, if everyone threw their problems in a hat and you could pick a new set of problems, you'd end up picking the ones you threw in. Its true.

You may be wondering why I chose to put this on the internet. Honestly, I'm not sure. I just know its been on my mind a lot. Its not just about that single day that I made this choice,Its always a choice. Everyday, I think there are a lot of problems that people have to deal with that could potentially make you miserable, but its up to the individual to decide how you deal with it.

I also think a lot of women, in particular, feel judged. That it isn't enough what we do. Whether we have a career or stay home with kids, or both, it often feels like we aren't enough because we don't do what Sally does. We never can know what its like to walk in someone else's shoes. Brian and I decided a long time ago, that we would forget what others thought and do what makes us happy. I like that. I like being happy. I like my life. and to me thats everything. I like being happy. :)

Just a quick post...

Today, Kennedy made a shape necklace. I wanted to make a heart necklace but we ran out of time before Valentine's Day, so I had planned on doing an Easter one. But today, she wanted to cut and I thought, ok....lets cut shapes. So she cut shapes- triangles, flower, rectangle, octagon, pentagon, stars, etc. and then put them on string. We learnt about patterns and she went back and forth between shape, straw, shape straw. She really enjoyed it because she was able to do it herself rather than the craft we tried this morning that she is not ready for. She's rather proud of her necklace. She learnt what a pattern is and used those fine motor skills by threading the straws and paper on the string.

and, no, she doesn't use those big scissors. I was cutting up the straws.

I decided it was time for a change!!

Here is my hair before-

then- the nerve wracking cut. Turned out ok. I was worried, because I usually go to nice salons, but I needed to be money savvy, so I went to a cheap place. The assistant manager who's been cutting for 26 years cut it. It cost me $20.

then, feeling brave and wanting a bigger change, I let Brian dye my hair. It was a dark brown on the box, but it went a light brown auburn color. Probably because of the reddish in my hair naturally. But I like it. Its kinda fun to look in the mirror and see dark hair.

A fun change to mix things up that cost me a total of $29. I'm enjoying short hair again!

This cute, sweet little babe is 4 months old. 4 months ago I brought her home. Only 4 months?? Already 4 months?? lol. you Mom's know how that goes.

A little about our little peanut:

14 lbs 3 oz
sleeps 12 hours straight at night! no joke.

So, I had to share the funny thing Kennedy said today. She wasn't listening when she was supposed to be cleaning her stickers up so I said, "you have to choices (holding up my fingers), one- you can go to your room or two, you can clean up your stickers." she holds up her two fingers then lifts the third finger as another option and replies " or I can play." funny kid.

So, this afternoon, I thought it was time to get some Valentine stuff out. Normally, I'm not really big into Valentine's Day, but Kennedy is at such a fun age to enjoy such little things. She had a ball cutting hearts with me, and I was crazy impressed with how well she cut! I didn't need to fix any of her hearts....she did great! and she had so much fun! she kept telling me, Valentine's is so fun! cute. Just a bunch of simple hearts for the window. And the banner I made last year.

I'm excited to make pink pancakes, heart cookies, heart sandwiches, cupcakes, Valentine's for Daddy.....what are you doing for Valentine's with kids?

This little munchkin is 3 months old today! How time flies, right? She is just the sweetest, cutest, bestest baby around! I just love her to pieces.

hehe...this last one Kennedy did something funny and it was like she was yelling at her! funny.

She weighs 11 pounds 2 ounces. I don't remember her height, but she is in the 90th percentile! she is tall! I went to put a dress on her on Sunday that Kennedy wore at 6 months and it was too short! It showed her diaper just lying there!

**Updated (more for my sake and journalling's sake)- its totally not rare for her to sleep till 8am. For about 3 weeks, she slept till 8am. last couple of mornings its been 8:30. fantastic!

she sleeps through the night- goes to bed at 10:30 and sleeps till about 6-eats and goes back to bed till about 9:30. I laugh at this because I say she doesn't really sleep through the night because I go back to bed- but its still basically 8 hours. Its just that there is no way I'm going to stay up at 6am!!

she is very calm. Seriously, she's just a happy baby. Content to sit and watch you make dinner or whatever.

LIVINGSTONE FAMILY PROJECT 365~ 2011

So, Project Life, is a fun idea created by Becky Higgins. It is basically about documenting a year by taking a picture a day-or a few a month, or however you want to do it. After seeing a few friends do it last year I decided to try it.

My BIG reasons for doing this are:

- I think it would be fun to look back at the end of 2011 and see a picture everyday of that year! What a way to remember the year!!

-I am not scrapbooking nearly as much as I would like to be due to lack of time and a good place to do it. Having a newborn and a toddler means I don't have a lot of free time for long stretches and its hard to get everything out and then Kennedy wants to play with my stuff....and you know how the excuses go. But with project life, I can write the little story that goes with the picture so later I can remember what was going on and the date so I can scrapbook the ones I really want to scrapbook when I have time! Like the other day on our winter walk....I don't want to forget that Kennedy was collecting all the pinecones she could find and she did not want to return home and that it was Lexi's first time in the snugli! Later on, I can go scrapbook that!

-A way to make me take more pictures! A few months ago I was looking back at some pics and I realized that in a whole month I had like 6 pictures!! Crazy!! I love pictures. I want lots! With project life, it forces me to get my camera out and take some pictures. Everyday stuff that I want to look back on and remember and my kids to remember too!

-Its fun and easy!

-Its pretty stress free

-It's FREE!

So, I created another blog where if you like, you can go look at our year of pictures. I'll update it as much as I can. I'm so EXCITED about this project! I think its going to be so fun!

At the end of the year, I think I'll buy the album and print all the pics and just put them all in! Easy peasy!

If you're even thinking of doing it, YOU SHOULD! what have you got to lose?? Its easy and free! You just need a camera!

My dream house!!!

Well....all I can say, is I've dreamed of my house for years and years. I can't wait to own my home and have all the things I want. I know it may not happen for quite a few more years and even then, it won't be my ultimate dream house....but I can still dream of the day that I get that fantastic house!! Its fun to dream!

In my dream house I have
a huge closet!!

I think I'd like his and her closets, but if its one, thats ok too, I just want a large closet! The one above is maybe a bit large-ish! hee hee...but you get the idea.

I also want a Pool!!

I have always dreamed of this. Brian thinks its a little weird and maybe expensive, but I don't care. I want a pool. I want backyard parties with friends and family having BBQ's and playing in the pool. I want my kids to bring their friends over to play. I want to lounge by the pool and tan for days and days in the summer. One day, I WILL have a pool in my backyard. A hot tub would be great too...

a NICE BIG KITCHEN!!!

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. And when people come over where do people gravitate? the kitchen. Its where you sit around the table and chat or Mom or Grandma is baking or cooking and you stand or sit at the bar and chat with that someone. I LOVE big kitchens. I love islands. I love lots of counter space. I like open concept floor models that open up to the living room too so you can visit and be in the kitchen and all that good stuff. I don't know yet the kind of kitchen I want. Sink in the island? Raised bar? Island of just counters? So many choices. One thing I do know, is I want a double oven. I think that would be just fantastic. I so often think how handy that would be. So you can cook the ham/turkey and buns or dessert at the same time. Or I can make cookies with the kids but still have dinner going. Oh, its going to be great! I can't wait. I tell my mom all the time how great it would be to have 2 ovens and she agrees...but how can you not? It'd be fantastic, let me tell ya.

as for the look of my home, I'm at a stump on that too. I like brick and I like verandas. I just want some space around it....a nice backyard with lots of big trees to have some privacy for my pool :) I could care less about a front yard. for all I care, make the front non existant and make the backyard bigger. A nice big deck for the picnic table and a BBQ and lots of grass for my kids to run.

Its going to be a great house! Can't you just picture it?? In the meantime, until I can afford such a luxurious home, I like my town house where I live now. And after this, whereever I live will be our home cause my family will be there. Thats what makes it great.

A girl can always dream right?.....

Winter Wonderland!

Here in Calgary, they have a Winter Wonderland where you get to go and take about 30 mins to visit with Santa, make a craft, write a letter, watch a movie and have a snack. Kennedy had so much fun with the craft and visiting Santa and could really care less about the rest. But it was a good time and so nicely decorated for kids. We had a nice afternoon there and through the mall!

I'll be back, but probably after Christmas to finish the blog challenge!! I've been so busy doing Christmas stuff with my family and being away!

The other day, we took the kids swimming. Kennedy LOVED the water slides and the waves and Lexi loved just laying in the warm kiddie pool. It was great. The place we found in Calgary was pretty cool. I took them again today by myself at the YMCA. They have one of those pools where the whole kids pool is the same level and it was fantastic. It was to about Kennedy's armpit level so she played, jumped in and slid down the slide and could mostly do it all by herself!

On Saturday, Kennedy and I made this super easy snowman. Like 5 minutes easy! I made it with my niece last weekend but Kennedy missed it, so we did it again. So quick, fun and cute! Perfect!!

A song that makes me cry??

Well, as mentioned before, I have never cried in a movie. I am not much of a crier. Once or twice a musical number at church has made me cry. Thats really the only time a song has made me cry- in church.

Christmas Shoes by Luther Vandross has made me cry before. Its about a boy wanting to buy shoes for his mama because she is about to pass away and he wants her to look nice for when she meets Jesus.

Hmmm.... boring me. I just don't tear up easily

My parents and siblings.

This is very personal. I almost deleted this post. A few times actually.

Hopefully no one minds me writing about them on the internet

First of all, my parents. My parents are GREAT, As anyone who knows them will probably agree. They are my biggest fans. No matter what I want to do, they support me. Their like my personal cheerleaders. they are such a cute couple. They still hold hands and go on dates and kiss and dance in the kitchen. Its been a while since I've seen them dance in the kitchen, but I'm sure they still do. THey are AMAZING grandparents. They are Nana and Papa. Kennedy just adores them.

My mom has always been my friend for as long as I can remember. From elementary all up to High School I could talk to her. About my friends, my problems, boys, dances, church....whatever it was she would be understanding and offer the best advice. I still remember and think about the lessons she has taught me. My mom is still one of my bestest friends. She has taught me how to be a good mother. She is the first one I call if something is wrong, good, exciting, worrying or anything about my kids. She is a terrific mom.

My dad is super sweet to my mom. My dad, let me tell ya, will do Anything for his kids. He came down to Calgary with me at the spur of the moment to find a house to live in. He drove me to Seminary every morning for 2 years I think. He picked me up from dances. He taught me how to drive. He made me feel good about myself. I remember once I was having a really bad day and I wouldn't tell him about it and even still, he knew just what to say. He works a lot and always has to provide for his family. To my dad, family is everything. EVERYTHING.

I love my parents so so much.

I can't seem to find a picture of my brother and me together. Andrew is a good big brother. He's always looked out for me. He is a great basketball player, loves to play golf (and I hear he's pretty good), works very hard, loves his dogs and LOVES my girls. He loves to play with Kennedy. He is usually the first one at any family function to be on the floor playing with kids. He will be an AMAZING dad one day. His wife, Kris, is sweet, kind, loving, funny and easy to laugh with. She loves basketball just like her hubby.

My sister is my best friend. She is sweet, gorgeous, kind and loving. She is pretty funny too. She loves FRIENDS, dancing (especially latin), baking, laying on the beach, tanning, taking pictures, shopping, reading girly novels, watching movies, going on dates with her hubby, hanging out with me and all her family and cleaning her house. I mention the last because her house is ALWAYS clean. It actually drives me crazy that she can keep it so clean. Even if I show up un-announced, its clean. I wonder if it will be that way once she has kids. She's super aunt- Changing diapers, babysitting, playing with Kennedy- she'll be one fantastic mother. I can't wait for that day. Her husband, Ernesto, is an amazing chef, a huge Football fan and an incredibly sweet husband. My sister is lucky to have such a nice guy.

I also need to mention my other siblings. My in-law siblings. They come from amazing parents that are so incredibly loving and sweet. They are very knowledgeable about so many things. I call my mother in law often about baking questions, my father in law always answers my questions about the scriptures. I think these kids were pretty lucky to get such awesome parents. Brian had a very good example of a great marriage and because of that, he is a wonderful husband. And the kids, each individually are great. I mean, really, what are the chances that I love each and every one of Brian's siblings. Most people I know have someone in their inlaw family they don't get along with. Not me. I could easily sit down with any of them and feel comfortable and have a great conversation with. They all married nice people as well. Brian's sisters are some of my best friends. I'm so lucky to have married into such a nice family.

I feel kinda weird writing all this. I hope no one is mad that I wrote about them online. But I love you all too much to not include this post!

When it comes to family, I have the GREATEST!!!! and I love them all so much!!

DAY 2: what stresses me out

So, I had to think about this. What stresses me out? I don't know. Do I get stressed? Then I asked Brian what stresses me out. He rambled off about 4....not all of them actually stress me out. they upset me....totally different. But, I do get stressed. Here's some:

-When my house is a mess (Brian told me this one). Yes, totally true. My mom will agree that even when I was younger living at home when my room was a mess it totally made me mad. I couldn't concentrate and I was a total grump. I get really stressed and aggravated when my house is a mess. I just can't handle it. Minor untidiness is fine most of the time-but I don't like it.

-Driving in the winter.

-Driving in the winter in the dark.

-Being unprepared. Like for a test at school or for a fitness class I have to teach or just anything I have to do that I don't feel ready to do.

-moving

-Being rushed or late

DAY 1: 15 {interesting?} facts about ME

1. pregnancy has changed my taste buds. I used to HATE chocolate before I ever got pregnant. Then, I craved chocolate when I was preggo with Kennedy. It never went away. I love chocolate. Except in high amounts like chocolate cake. But chocolate bars- yes please!!

2. I CRAVE ice when I'm pregnant. To an annoying amount to my husband and family. I eat all the ice at whoever's house I'm at.

3. I love to work out. I have taught fitness classes for 5 years and I love it.

4. I love routines, lists and schedules.

5. I always wanted to be a teacher. 2nd grade or High School Biology. Nothing in between. High school bio is my first choice too.

6. I google a lot.

7. Lemon water is my favourite drink. A good Dominican Pina Colada is right up there too.

8. I spell Favourite and Colour with u's. It's the Canadian/UK way and the way I was taught in grade 1 and 2. I remember vividly my teacher telling us to use a U. I hate how Word and other programs underline that word like its spelled wrong

9. I could be very happy to live somewhere that never had winter. I want summer and fall. thats it. maybe spring.

10. I've never cried in a movie. I'm told a lot that I have a tin heart

11. A week before Lexi was born I cried in Oprah. First time ever. It hasn't happened since.

12. I LOVE to dance. that doesn't mean to say I'm good at it, just that I love to do it. Like really love it. One day I will take more classes. Brian and I are going to do ballroom and swing lessons together one day.

13. My favourite number is 2.

14. I LOVE the beach. Sitting, tanning, reading, volleyball, eating, swimming, boating, tubing, eating more, sand castles.

15. When all my kids are in school, I think I might go back to school. Although I have no idea what I would take. I don't want to do 4 years to be a teacher. I only want to work a few days a week and would need to be home when my kids are home from school. Maybe I'll just continue teaching classes and work in that capacity.

and the picture is old, but it still looks like me. I just had a baby, so I haven't been into taking pics of myself, just my cute baby and before that I was pregnant. Preggo pics. not good. enough said.

I swear, I never thought having 2 kids would make me this busy! I guess Christmas and a baby blessing help. but man, my to-do list is like a mile long everyday! Kennedy is gone to my awesome sister in laws for a week, so its just Lexi and I. We slept until 11:30 today. That wasn't planned, now I've got to get on the ball to get my stuff done today! However, in the last 2 days, I got my Christmas shopping DONE!!!! and its all wrapped too! Actually, I have my mom and sister left....but that doesn't count. My little family is done with stockings too. Feels so good.

better get cleaning and baking for this weekend. Lots of buns to make for the baby blessing lunch....

Things are good around here. I'm having much better days :) Thanks for the comments.

Busy Busy. Time goes quick! Lexi is one month old and doing great. We are LOVING life with her. SHe is so precious and sweet. At her checkup she weighed 8lbs 8oz, but at the hospital she weighed 9lbs 8oz. They were one day apart. And a whole pound off. Not sure which is correct. But anyway.....

Kennedy is doing great. Loving being a big sister. She's so sweet to Lexi. Covering her blankets and giving her a teddy when she is sleeping or giving her her soother. Shes great.

Nana was here for a few days and KEnnedy LOVES to hang with Nana. They shop and do puzzles and go on carousels and do all kinds of things together. And Brian and I got to go on a date (with Lexi) while my mom babysat. Thanks Mom!

So, life is good here. just busy. But we like it :)

So, I've wanted to do the whole playschool thing too, but with a new baby and moving to Calgary, it seemed like too much for me to commit to taking Kennedy somewhere a few times a week and they are expensive! So.....I did nothing. Although, when I was pregnant, I had no energy. Now that Lexi is here, I decided it was time!! I was totally inspired by this blog and this one too. Although, too be honest, the second one intimidated me. You see, my friend is a teacher, so she has lots of tricks up her sleeve and she does it a bit different with other kids and you travel to the different mom's homes. Anyway..... I'm getting sidetracked.

This is what we do.....

Tuesdays and Thursdays, for at least an hour, Kennedy and I have "school". We work on letters and numbers and sometimes do crafts. I got LOTS of stuff at the dollar store but the best idea I have had is to put a sheet in a page protector and let kennedy practice on it with dry erase markers. then she can erase it herself and do it again! its awesome. She knows that "A" is for apple and "B" is for Banana. She knows (most of the time) what 1-5 look like. She is practicing using scissors, holding a pencil, to focus, to listen better and obviously to learn her numbers and letters. It also really helps pass the day. She is so proud of herself and loves to tell Daddy when he gets home.

She can see the numbers 1-5 on the orange sheet and she draws that amount of circles or lines. Then erases it and does it again (there is no pic of that). I'm quite amazed how well a 3 year old can do with just being shown once.

I'm so glad she is developing a love for "school". And its great "mommy and Kennedy" time.

On October 11th, 2010, at 9:51pm, we welcomed another baby girl to our family.

Lexi Brianne Livingstone

7lbs 6oz

19 3/4" long

We just LOVE her!!

Labour went very well, and VERY quick. After birth pains sure hurt with the second baby! But, we are doing well, just adjusting to having 2 kids!! We are a family of 4!!

And so so so much thanks to my mom and sister who were visiting for Thanksgiving. Luckily they were here to take care of Kennedy and bring me muffins and my mom was my labour coach AGAIN!! she is awesome. I swear.....hire her. haha! And thanks to my Dad for coming to visit and steam cleaning my carpets! :) and buying us all icecream. ahhhh..

Thanks to all our family and friends for their well wishes and congrats. We sure love you. and THANKS THANKS to my wonderful hubby who takes such good care of me. He is great. He loves his girls! and we love him!!

baby's first album

I finished the baby's first year album! yah! it feels good to be done with that, now all I have to do is add pictures and journaling each month.

How I did it:

-when Kennedy was a baby, this class came out at Big Picture Scrapbooking

-I took the class and did Kennedy's first year album as she was growing. She was only like a couple weeks old when it came out and I started it.

-Because her first album is one of my FAVORITE albums to look through, I knew I wanted to do another one for this baby. Babies grow so much in their first year and everything is a milestone. Plus, you have oodles of pictures that you want to remember and scrapbook and share.

-So, using the same guides, I just chose a new color pallet and got to work. I changed very little from the class. I just love the simple design and space for lots of pics. And next to zero embellishments keeps it timeless and easy. The main thing I changed was the "watching you grow page" where you put a picture from each "monthly birthday". I made that layout different to kind of stick out just for fun

-take a look and enjoy! I sure love it.

by the way, If this baby ends up being a boy, well then, this just adds one more thing to laugh about. Her room is done and ready to go. Although that won't take long to change-there is not a lot of decorating in there- we have ZERO boy clothes. ZERO! Brian will have to leave the hospital to buy something boyish to bring him home in! But.....if that happens....that is just fine with us. Whatever the gender, its gonna be loved. I'll just have to save the album for a different baby (mine or someone else's)

I picked up this book from the library today. I read it last week to my neice and nephews and Kennedy. We all had a little chuckle. Tonight after Family Home Evening, Brian and I read it to Kennedy and we were all laughing so hard!! it was one of those things where one starts to giggle (brian) and then I would laugh cause he was and then Kennedy joins in because she doesn't know what is funny...but we are laughing so something must be, which made Brian and I laugh harder! man, it was cute. I totally recommend this book to read to your kids. A nice quick read that will make you chuckle or smile at the very least.

I haven't had photoshop on my computer for a LONG time, and I have really missed playing with my pictures. Its so fun. Here's just a little collage of Calaway earlier this month. We had a great time.

my goal is to take more pictures!!! I really don't get my camera out enough, and how am I going to get better at taking pics and editing them, if I don't practice??
